SEPTEMBER WONDER FUJI
September Wonder Fuji is an early-ripening strain of Fuji that delivers the sweet, crisp, and exceptionally juicy flavor of a traditional Fuji several weeks earlier in the season.
Its creamy white flesh is firm and crunchy, with a predominantly sweet, low-acid flavor and subtle honey and citrus notes. It is especially delicious for fresh eating and snacking, but its versatility also makes it excellent for salads, pies, baking, applesauce, freezing, and other recipes that call for Fuji apples.
September Wonder generally ripens in mid-September; it can mature four to six weeks earlier than a standard Fuji, making it one of the earliest true Fuji varieties available. One of its most interesting qualities is that it is a natural mutation, or “sport,” of Fuji, discovered in Washington State and also known by the name Jubilee.
Despite its much shorter growing season, it can still produce medium-to-large fruit with the familiar sweetness, crispness, and attractive red blush of a Fuji. September Wonder also has excellent storage potential, with some sources reporting several months of storage under proper conditions, making it a particularly valuable apple for extending the Fuji season.
