KINDERCRISP

images (5)_edited.png

KinderKrisp is a small, exceptionally crisp and juicy apple known for its sweet, refreshing flavor and crunchy texture. Often compared to its parent, Honeycrisp, KinderKrisp has a high-sugar, low-acid flavor with subtle notes of cinnamon, spice, and apple cider.

Its naturally small size makes it especially popular for fresh eating, snacks, and lunchboxes, as the apples are just the right size for children to hold and eat whole. KinderKrisp can also be used in salads, applesauce, apple butter, pies, crisps, and other baked desserts, although it is primarily prized as a fresh-eating apple.

It typically ripens in late August through early September, making it one of the earlier apples of the season. The variety originated in Minnesota in 1998 and was developed by fruit breeder David MacGregor; it is believed to have Honeycrisp as one of its parents.

Another notable quality is its cold hardiness, making KinderKrisp well-suited to northern growing regions. Its combination of Honeycrisp-like flavor, excellent crunch, and smaller size makes it a particularly fun and kid-friendly summer apple.
